Hey guys, Matt here, i just got back from Kairos and was greeted with some awsome news - that we won our game against Penn Charter 15-6. Awesome job guys.

Quick reminders
- we have practice on monday, 2:45 in the foyer
- new pictures are up, just click this link, or go to the downloads page and click on pictures

Amazing awesome announcement!!!
- the Prep ultimate team is holding a logo designing contest which will be open to the entire school. Complete entry guidelines and everything like that can be found here. But the general jist of it is, we will pick whichever design we think is the best for the team, and it will be used as our team logo on our jerseys, it will be printed on discs, added to the website, made into backgrounds, anything you can think of that we would use a logo for, it will be used for.

you are gonna hear this in the announcements on monday, so if you know anyone artistically inclined, let them know.

Thats about all for now, we have a big big game coming up this tuesday vs. Cheltenham's A team. So get ready.

Congratulations to the Prep on their second win, this time against Abington 13-2.

On Sunday the prep also suffered its first loss, at the hands of Wissahickon high school. a veteran team. however, this should not be taken as merely a score. On that weekend Bill Easton 05 fractured his wrist and therefore couldnt play, Luke Matthews 05 was sick and couldnt play, and Dan Pennacchia, had a wedding to go to... or something. Also Mike Panna ended up having a sinus infection and became really sick the next day. By no means is this any excuse for the loss, just merely a further read into the actual game.

Our next game is this WEDNESDAY @ Penn Charter vs. Penn Charter. Bill Easton will be acting as captain for the game, because Steve and I are on Kairos, and Mike has been prohibitted from attending by doctors orders. So if anyone can drive, or anyones parents can drive, please do so. If anyone needs a ride, call the other guys on the team, the contact sheet is on the yahoo groups page.

Also there are new pictures up on the downloads page, from the Wissahickon and Abington games.

Congratulations to the Prep on their first win! The prep played some awesome defense that led to a 15-8 defeat of Germantown Friends School.

Before the match Germantown Friends School was ranked 5th in the state and St. Joe's 11th. (for all rankings click here)

The prep offense was led by sophomore sensation Joe Kruse who had four points. Other noble efforts included Luke Matthews amazingly energetic defense, and Steve Iannelli's numerous flying catches.

Our next game is this saturday vs. the #4 team in the nation, #1 in the state, Wissahickon. as well as Abington. The game will start at 1:00pm at Wissahickon HS, directions here. The fields are off of Dager road.

Please note this change in location from Wentz Park to Wissahickon High School.

Awesome game guys, and ill see you tomorrow at practice.

Congratulations to Mr. Deitch on becoming the Prep Ultimate team's new moderator. Those of you who are incredibly observant may have realized that Mr Gilbert, our moderator for last year has moved on to assumedly bigger and better things.

Mr. Deitch attended St. Joe's University (class of 97), and was recently hired at the Prep to oversee the Ignatian Service office. It has been rumoured that he plays recreational ultimate. (These rumours cannot be denied nor confirmed at this time)

FRESHMAN! Try out for ultimate! Our first information meeting is on Monday in room 100 after school. No experience required. bring your friends, talk to your classmates. If you cant make the meeting on monday there will be a meeting on tuesday as well, same place and time.

Hey guys, just a few quick updates - we've been getting stuff together a little bit for the season already, and just wanted to let you guys know what we have been up to

-On the website - new downloads have been added - videos from various sites, and a new buddy icon advertising our new season coming up. Ive added a complete calendar for the upcoming season, practice dates etc, so you can plan ahead not to miss them. Ill post game dates as soon as i get them.

-in the real world - i have contacted a few companies about sponsoring our team this year, as they sponsor other high school ultimate teams in other leagues. I have also contacted all the media outlets i could get my fingers on, just letting them know about the team, how we started, where we are going, what ultimate is etc. Just letting them know we are here, and that ultimate or our team itself would be a good topic of an article or video segment. Ive gotten a few responses back, so it looks decently promising.

ive been looking into jerseys, and we are definitely going to have to have a fundraiser to get anything decent, our two best options right now are GAIA ultimate apparell, and VC Ultimate. So check their sites out, just google em.

In terms of fundraisers, pretty much we have two options - tshirt sales and disc (frisbee) sales, i think we are gonna try to do both. Which means we would need logos for both, so i figure we dont need to worry about this at least until we are back in school. But to hype up the team, or to at least let people know we exist i think we are gonna open the logo contest up to the entire school, and then we will pick the best one. And use it for the discs as well as the tshirts, as well as our jerseys.

Speaking of hyping up the team, we will be doing all we can to put up posters advertising the team info sessions, and tryouts beginning, but it cant do anything like what word of mouth can do. So if you guys know anyone who is interested in the team, let them know about us, direct em to the website, whatever you can do.

Thats about all for now, see you when school starts guys, and i expect to see all of you at the information sessions on the 13th and 14th of September. See ya then!

Hellllooooo Preppers! The silence has been broken. You will notice that the site has been thoroughly redesigned, with a few added features.

The most notable of these is the Tryouts section. I suggest all members of last years team read this, as it gives you information about how we are going to run the team this year, what changes we are gonna make, etc.

I hope you are all enjoying your time off from school, but are all occasionally playing ultimate. If you are looking for games, there are pickup games at Haverford High School every wednesday night, and at the church accross the street from Merrymead Farm (in PA). If you know of any other pickup games lemme know and ill post them here, otherwise go to www.pada.org and check out their listings of games.

Some ultimate links of interest - CollegeSports.com covered the national college ultimate championships. In a few days High Schol Team USA will be competing in Finland for the world championships of ultimate.

We will be starting the fall season within the first two weeks of school, and practices will be much harder than last year, however they will only be 3x a week (Monday Wednesday Friday). So if i were you id start running a little now and getting in shape so its not such a system shock. But its your call. We will also be looking for a team manager for this season, so if you know anyone that would be interested, lemme know (this would entail taking pictures at games, printing and putting up flyers, getting sports hours etc) I hope you guys enjoy the rest of your summer, and Ill see you in a few weeks!

The Prep played their last games of the season yesterday at City Championships, we ended up where we were seeded in the brackets at 7th place. Our team showed amazing spirit in the games, setting a precedent for other more intense teams to follow. Everyone played solidly, with relatively few stray passes or missed catches. Notable efforts included Bill Easton's amazing defense, Joe Kruse's amazing grab in the CB East game, those who took part in the two pass point vs. CB East.

These are by far not the only amazing plays from games, our team played with amazing skill and preserverance, and we look forward to an amazingly succesful season next year. I hope that everyone that played this year comes back for the fall and spring seasons, because if we continue on our track from this year we are looking at a city championship and a succesful bid at states, and perhaps even nationals.

Thank you guys for a great season, for working so hard to get to this point, and for sticking it out to the end, you've been great, and ill see you next year.

The Prep played a very good game on Saturday against Malvern, however we lost 14-16. Quick notes: to anyone who hasnt gotten my numerous numerous emails, you have to sign up for the yahoo groups thing. It really will make everything alot easier and this way we can get your input as well.

You can sign up in a couple of different ways, you can email: sjpultimate-subscribe@yahoogroups.com or you can go to the main page for the group by clicking here or at the top right of the page. Or you can just put your email address in at left and click join.

Practice tomorrow, one of four left in the season. No one will miss tomorrow or the rest of the week, this is our last chance guys. Champs are next sunday.

Game has been cancelled. There will be no game this weekend, Upper Darby has cancelled because their team voted and decided to disband and no longer function as a competitive team in the league.

So what does this mean for you, 1.) you dont need to drive to upper darby this weekend to play 2.) you now have plenty of time to work on your throws so that way on the first day of practice (next monday) you completely amaze everyone on the team with your new found flick and amazing backhands.

One final note, we may have the chance to play a double header on May 8th vs. Malvern and then Lancaster Day School, more details to come.

Practice Update - NO PRACTICE WEDNESDAY OR ANY DAY THIS WEEK. There will be thundershowers and lightening and the whole bit on Wednesday, so no practice. Check back here for info on the game, emails will be sent out also, if you arent sure if i have your email, email me. Click my name below to open an email.

Remember, start hyping up the game now, this is gonna be a huge game for us. Since we do not have practice as a team, PRACTICE INDIVIDUALLY, practice throws, catching, etc. The basics, the fundamentals, be ready, and ill see you at the game!

Practice Update - there will be practice this wednesday at Lemon Hill @ 2:00 pm. Bring the normal practice stuff - discs, cleats and regular sneakers. Also, bring one light tshirt and one dark t-shirt.

Our game this Saturday vs. Upper Darby is still on for 2:00 pm. Start inviting family and friends now, we are gonna need huge crowds for this bad boy. I'll see you Wednesday!

Happy Easter everyone! Hope everyone has a wonderful holiday, and enjoys thier time without practice. Our next game is scheduled for this Saturday at Upper Darby vs. Upper Darby.

We are going to try to have practice at least once this week, details will follow as they become availiable. When we have this practice, it will be absolutely mandatory, barring of course, extreme circumstances.

All-Star game update, the white team won 15-14 in an extremely exciting game, both Garrett and I played pretty well I, think at least. And we also got a team disc, that we can use for games or practice or whatever.

One last thing, we now have an affiliate program with GAIA, official maker of ultimate goods. So if you click on any of the banners you see around the website the team will get 10% commission from your purchase. So, to anyone on the team that does not already have a disc or cleats, two things you absolutely need to play ultimate, i suggest buying them through GAIA, seeing as they are pretty much the only ultimate goods retailer. But if you can find a better price somewhere else, by all means go for it.

Thats all for now, enjoy your Easter holiday!

New pictures are up from the Malvern game. Thanks again to Riverjoe for taking them.

Next weekend is the All-Star Game, which will be held at Edgely field in Phildelphia (at 11:30). Two people from each team in the area will be there, including me and Garrett McInnes. A decision which was reached by a vote. So anyone that wants to come watch is welcome to.

Practice tomorrow, if more than 15 people come there will be a vote on whether to have practice on Wednesday, the day before spring break starts.

A quick recap of the meeting today, you must attend 3 practices each week to be eligible to play in games. This has been decided by all the captains, because it isnt fair to give up playing time to the guys that are out there busting their butts everyday at practice to the guys that just show up for games. This does not mean anyone has been kicked off the team. We dont have cuts this year on ultimate, it just means its in your hands now. Also, this does not mean that you only have to come to 3 practices a week, and you can skip one. The guys who come to all the practices are going to be the ones that play the most in the games.

Also we are working out a system for varsity letters for the team, not necessarily recognized by the school, but at least by the team. A component of which will definately be practice attendance. We will definately try to get them recognized by the school though.

TOURNAMENT THIS SATURDAY - starting at 2:30 @ Hillcrest Elementary School, try to get there around 2:00. If you can, try to bring some food and drinks for the team, and if at all possible, enough to share with other teams. Because there is no entry fee for the tournament, they are asking that each team bring some food and drinks if possible.

We will probably be playing at least 3 or 4 games, so rest up the night before and eat a hearty breakfast. I'll see you there!

Tough loss today guys, we played well, but we still have alot of work to do. Practice tomorrow, meet in the foyer at right after school, we will leave by 2:45. Tomorrow I will be getting the sizes for the tshirts, and I'll start collecting money for them soon.

There are tons of new links on the "links" page, all to other high schools with ultimate teams and websites for them. Really kinda interesting. Thats all for now, I'll see you guys at practice.

Also in regards to practice on Tuesday, it is still on. However, it will be significantly shorter though, given the Junior ring mass that night.

Congratulations to the Prep Ultimate team on their first victory!!! the Prep vs. Springfield match started out evenly enough, with valiant efforts by both teams, tough defense in the beginning slowed the pace of the game (as well as the marsh-like fields and amazing gusts of wind). But the Prep's deep bench proved to be a huge advantage for the new team, eventually handing them a 15-1 victory.

Our next game is Sunday, March 28th at 3:30, directions will be posted soon. It should also be noted that the number of fans at this last game was significantly larger than the first game, with a rough estimate of about 30 people. Lets try to top that next time, bring friends, moms and dads, sisters and brothers, second cousins, extend the invite, put it in the profiles and away messages, email people.

Last thing: practice Tuesday everyone that was at the game should be there.

Allstars have been chosen. Due to an awesome showing at practice today allstars were voted for (finally). The results: Garrett McInnes, Matt McCabe, and Mike Panna as the alternate. The All-Star game is April 10th, and will definately be a fun time, whether you are playing or not, so if you feel like checking out some high quality ultimate play, feel free to drop by.

Game this Saturday as far as we know is still on for 4:30 vs. Springfiel at Springfield (right by Lasalle). Check back here for updates, if the game is cancelled it will be posted here immediately. Please try to show up around 15 minutes early for the geam, and remember cleats!

Happy St. Patrick's Day!

Game this weekend vs. Springfield @ 4:30pm, directions can be found on the schedule page. There will be practice again tomorrow. For the past two days there has been practice, though most did not come. As a result, the people going to the allstar game will most likely be chosen by me. Or possibly we may send no one at all, because there is such a lack of devotion/enthusiasm in the team, and the deadline may have already passed because we were forced to wait so long.

I have sent out two emails, if you have not received them, email me. Otherwise read them, and respond to them as directed in the email, with the info requested.

Practice tomorrow is absolutely mandatory, meet in the foyer right by the Multi-Purpose room doors. If you do not attend this practice, barring extraordinary circumstances, your status/position on the team will be reconsidered, and possibly removed.

(Side note, the team is now ranked 38th nationally)

There will be NO GAME THIS WEEKEND. After repeated [unsuccesful] tries to get in contact with Cheltenham's team, we have decided to cancel the game this Saturday. If you know of anyone planning to come to the game, please make them aware of this change.

Our jerseys (tshirts) will be ready sometime next week. The prototype will be ready probably by Saturday. This means we need to get sizes for everyone, we'll figure that out at practice.

Also we will be getting team pictures soon for the website. This will also be done at practice at some point.

There will be a handout for parents soon, with the schedule, an introduction to ultimate, directions to fields, a contact sheet (so people can carpool), and whatever else i deem necessary. Also, we might ask for some money, maybe something like $20 a person, but who knows. For jerseys, shorts, money to start fundraisers like tshirts and such, and for discs for the team. Right now we have none. We are relying on individuals to bring in discs, it shouldnt be that way, so you might be asked to contribute some money, no different from any other sport.

That whole packet will be given out as soon as i finish writing it and putting it together.

As of 10 minutes ago the St. Joseph's Preparatory Ultimate Team is ranked 16th in the United States of America. To see all the rankings go here. Our only loss as of now, is to 3rd ranked Wissahickon. But that is not the last time we will see them. We'll play them again in a few spring tourneys, and then I'm sure we'll see them at champs. A side note, right now we are also ranked 4th in the state.

Great work guys! Remember, practice begins Monday, bring cleats if you have them, but also running shoes because we will be running to Lemon Hill for practice.

Our first game was today versus the very formidable oponent, Wissahickon. We played very well, and fought an honorable fight. Every member of the Prep team played extremely well, but our efforts just werent enough for the much more organized and seasoned Wissahickon team. In the end the score came out 4-15, a reasonable score given our new status. Next up, is Cheltenham on Saturday, details and directions coming soon.

Practice this week, and all weeks, absolutely mandatory. We will leave from the prep at 2:45, meet in the foyer..

This friday... SJP Hawks vs. Wissahickon @ Wentz Park @ 3:30 - ( click here for directions from the prep )

Over the weekend i attended the PHUEL organizational meeting, where we organized our schedule, which is now availiable on the schedule page. After the game this friday there will be an impromptu pizza party/barbecue. We are asking that each person who eats or drinks (soda) chip in around $5 to pay for the pizza, any excess money will be put towards our jerseys, and team discs, as well as other team expenses. However, seeing the way people on the team eat, the $5 might be just enough to cover the pizza. All are welcome to attend this party, invite friends to come out to the game, right now we are expecting a decent size crowd so it should be a good time.

Keep in mind, Wissahickon was the state champion a few years back, so it will be a very hard game. Everyone needs to make practice everyday this week, rain or shine. Pass the word, the SJP Ultimate season is here...

feel free to print out the posters (on the downloads page) for the event..

Alot of stuff to update here, the SJP Ultimate team is no longer called the Right Hand of God, because of administration differences of opinion. We are now The Hawks. Today the Right Hand of God took its first steps toward a long and successful career in the ultimate leagues. We participated in our first tournament. While only 10 of our team members showed up, we still gave it our all and came up with 6th place, and the Spirit Award, noble accomplishments givin our new status. This is probably our last game for the fall season, and we will resume practices when the snow melts.
