Mission

  • The mission of the library program at St. Joseph’s Preparatory School is to build a community of readers and thinkers by ensuring that all members of our learning community, students and adults, have access to a wide variety of literary and scholarly materials in many formats and become effective users of ideas and information.

Rules and Regulations

  • Please respect the rights of other library users to study and learn. Students who cannot follow these rules will be asked to leave the library and/or receive a JUG. Continued disruptive behavior will result in a student being banned from the library.

  • 1. No food or drink allowed.
  • 2. Speak quietly.
  • 3. iPod/MP3 use after school only.
  • 4. No cell phones at any time.
  • 5. Respect library staff.

Circulation Services


Lending Periods

  • 1. General Collection: Two-week loan period. Need to renew? No problem, just bring the materials with you OR RENEW ONLINE.
  • 2. Reference Collection: May be checked out overnight. Please see library staff.
  • 3. Magazines: Overnight.
  • 4. Books-on-Tape/CD: Loan period varies. Please see library staff.
  • 5. Laptops: For use in library only. Student ID required.
  • 6. Digital Cameras/Video Cameras/Tripods: May be checked out overnight. Student ID required and Technology Agreement must be signed and returned to school.

Fines - A portion of fines collected will be donated to Project H.O.M.E. Literacy Program.

  • 1. General Collection: 10 cents / day
  • 2. Reference Collection: 25 cents / day
  • 3. Audiobooks: 25 cents / tape / day
  • 4. Digital Cameras/Video Cameras: $1.00 / day
  • 5. Tripods: 25 cents / day

JUG: If material is not returned five days after due date the student will receive JUG. When they come to JUG they must have material and donation (or replacement cost if lost/broken). If not, they get another JUG. JUGs continue until material is returned. Students who have overdue material at the end of the year will have yearbooks held and the Dean's Office will be notified.


Lost or Damaged Library Materials

  • Please report any lost book/material/equipment immediately.
  • Payment will be for replacement costs, shipping and handling, and any fines due.
  • Replacement costs (not fines) will be refunded if item is found in good condition. If cameras/equipment are lost or broken you will be responsible for the following charges:
  • 1. Digital cameras - $100.00
  • 2. Digital camcorders - $400.00
  • 3. Tripods - $40.00
  • 4. USB cable/Firewire - $30.00
  • 5. Battery/Charger/Cables -$150.00

Computers, Printers and Electronic Equipment


Costs for Copying and Printing

  • Copier: 10 cents / page
  • Printers: 6 pages free / day. Please print wisely!

Computer Rules and Regulations

  • The Prep’s Acceptable Use Policy (AUP) is in force in the library. Students with legitimate school work will have priority for computer usage.

Printing Tips

  • 1. Pick up what you print.
  • 2. Power Points should be 6 handouts per page.
  • 3. Look for Printer-friendly icons on webpages.
