Bill Lamb, Head Coach

Bill Lamb graduated from the Prep in 1979 and St. Joseph 's University in 1983.  He first joined the Prep coaching staff in 1981.  Under his leadership, Prep Crew has grown into arguably the largest and most consistently successful junior rowing team in the nation.  Rowers from his tenure have gone on to row at every Ivy League University as well as Cal-Berkeley, Northeastern, Syracuse, the U.S. Naval Academy and many other Division I institutions.  Among his protégés are multiple U.S. Olympians and several more junior and senior national team members.  Among his team's top accomplishments are a complete sweep of every 8-oared event at Stotesbury in 1997, the Royal Henley Championship in 2000, and a staggering 4 consecutive national titles for the lightweights from 1997-2000. Bill is married with two young daughters, Elizabeth and Katie Burns Lamb.

John Fife, Freshman Coach

John Fife arrives back at the Prep after a year as the Head Lightweight Men's Rowing coach at Georgetown University .  His varsity eight finished 7th at the 2006 IRA National Championships.  Prior to his time at Georgetown , Fife spent three years as the freshman lightweight coach at University of Pennsylvania . His freshman enjoyed a highly successful 2003-2004 campaign. The group went 7-2 overall and placed fourth at the Eastern Sprints, less than a tenth of a second out of the medals.

Fife has also been the head junior men's coach at the Penn Athletic Club Rowing Association in Philadelphia for the past five years.  In 2004, his Penn AC Juniors went undefeated in the Men's Junior 4+ and Junior 8 including victories at the US National Championships and the Royal Canadian Henley Regatta. His 2005 Junior 8 repeated their previous year's performance at Canadian Henley with another gold medal.  Also, in 2001, Fife coached at the Prep for one year as a varsity assistant.

Fife, a 2002 graduate of the University of Pennsylvania with a degree in political science, was a heavyweight oarsman for four years.  He also graduated from the Prep in 1998, having rowed in the Prep's Varsity 8 for three years winning two National championships and one Stotesbury Cup championship.

Matt Morano, Crew Director

Matt Morano serves as crew director for the Prep rowing team.  He was captain of the squad that swept every eight-oared event at Stotesbury and SRA's in 1997, an unprecedented accomplishment that has never been repeated.  Matt graduated from the University of Pennsylvania in 2001.
